John Cicora has spent 17 years in Chicago teaching hundreds of students both privately and in a classroom setting, as well as directing and assistant directing for ensembles that have accompanied everyone from Kurt Elling, to Renee Fleming, John Prine, and Jessie Mueller. Since 2010 Cicora has been the MD for all nine productions of the Fly Honey Show, writing and arranging for Chicago staples such as JC Brooks, Maggie Kubley, Bethany Thomas, Jennifer Hall, Leslie Beukelman, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsey Charles, Quinn Tsan, Alexa Grae, and more. He was the music director for Darrian Fords’ The Cooke Book: The Music of Sam Cooke, and has written compositions for 7 different projects with Windham Campell Prize recipient Ike Holter. Cicora has appeared on two albums for Vanguard Records, and signed publishing deals with Time Warner and Penguin Publishing.
I am thrilled to have these two incredible artists (Tyrone Phillips and John Cicora) leading and guiding the third show of our 25th anniversary season!
