Hyun Jung Lee was born in Busan, South Korea, and started taking piano lessons when she was eight. She decided her major when she met her wonderful piano teacher, Young Ah Won in South Korea. She had a great opportunity to come to the U.S. to study with her teacher. Dr. Won’s family had moved to the U.S. due to her husband’s job, and this opportunity allowed Hyun Jung to continue studying in the U.S.
Hyun Jung Lee received Bachelor in Music in piano performance with a piano pedagogy certificate on July 2016 from Indiana State University. She had many successful; co-curricular activities at Indiana State University. She was a member of the National Society of Leadership from 2013 to 2016. In 2014, she joined the Music Teachers National Association. After her undergraduate studies, she has enjoyed performing at Indiana State University, singing with the ISU Masterwork Chorale, and accompanying vocalists and wind instrumentalists. She performed solo recitals both junior and senior years, and in her junior year, she also performed a recital of the W.A. Mozart Piano Trio in B flat Major. She was an assistant to Musikgarten for Indiana State University Community School of Arts in 2013 and a private piano instructor for ISU Community School of the Arts in 2013. In 2016, she worked in South Korea as a private piano instructor. For this she prepared and organized lessons for various levels and provided feedback.
Currently, Hyun Jung Lee is studying piano performance for a Master of Music degree at DePaul University. She has been a member of the DePaul University Chamber Choir and Chamber harpsichord/Piano performer. Hyun Jung Lee gives private piano lessons as well.
